    Essential Functions

    This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

    • Conduct a safe and effective wellness class designed to improve cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, balance, and self esteem for cancer survivors.
    • Build authentic relationships with participants while providng connections with YMCA programming, staff, and members.
    • Perform pre- and post- fitness assessments of participnats while maintaining confidentiality
    • Understand the physical and emotional limitation of each participant based on cancer type, treatment, or other medical conditions.
    • Work with other LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Instructors and the Program Coordinator to create a 12 week curriculum, class content, and graduation event.
    • Develop individualized exercise programs for each participant based on intake interview, fitness assessment, and limitations.
    • Attend and stay informed o fall staff meeting and information updates.
    • Maintain working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to participants.
    • Begin and end each class on time.
    • Maintain accurrate attendance, assessment, and program data records.
    • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

    • Current CPR / First Aid Certification

    • Principles of Member Health and Wellness, online at yexchange.org
    • Foundations of Strength and Conditioning at the Y, or Group Exercise at the Y; both offered by ACE at yexchange.org
    • Have or in process of completing LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Instructor Training
