    Essential Functions

    This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

    • Coordinating lessons by scheduling,promoting lessons, running private and semi-private lessons.
    • Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with the YMCA of the USA and Greater Springfield YMCA swim lesson program guidelines.
    • Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents.
    • Conveys information on aquatics programs, schedules, and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
    • Maintains records as required (attendance, progress reports).
    • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
    • Certifications: Lifeguard certification, CPR/First Aid/ AED certified, WSI or Swim instructor skills preferred.
    • In addition, to the above requirements, it is expected that the Swim lesson facilitator will bring to his/her position maturity, responsibility, positive values and sincere interest in working with people.
    • Flexible schedule working days/nights/and weekends.
    • Must be customer service oriented and have excellent people skills.
    • In charge of organizing staff for group, private and semi-private lessons following the annual program session dates. 

    Qualifications

Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.

    •  Certifications: Lifeguard certification
    • CPR/AED/First Aid
    • WSI certification preferred
