Overview

The YMCA of Greater Springfield is seeking a LIVESTRONG at they YMCA Instructor to join our team. This is a fast-paced role with the largest YMCA Association in Western Massachusetts! Please note that the salary range for this position is $14.00 per hour.

 

 

Essential Functions

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct a safe and effective wellness class designed to improve cardiovascular, strength, flexibilty, balance, and self esteem for cancer survivors. 
  • Build authentic relationships with participants while providing connections with YMCA programming, staff, and members. 
  • Perform intake interview, pre and post assessments of participants while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Understand physical and emotional limitations of each participant based on cancer type, treatment, or other medical conditions. 
  • Work with other LIVESTRONG Instructors and the Coordinator to create a 12 week curriculum, class content, and graduation event.
  • Develop individualized exercise programs for each participant based on intake interview, physical assessment and limitations. 
  • Attend and stay informed of all staff meetings and information updates.
  • Maintain working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to participants. 
  • Secure set up and maintain equipment and facility as required by each session. 
  • Begin and end each class on time. 
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and program data records. 
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.  

Qualifications

 

 

  • CPR / AED Certification
  • YMCA Heallty Lifestyles Principles
  • YMCA Foundations of Group Ex or Strength and Conditioning
  • LIVESTRONG at the Y Instructor Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Understand the broad overview of the goals and purposes of the YMCA of Greater Springfield and the Y Movement.
