Essential Functions

This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:


Under the direction of the Facility Director, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment including but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, pool equipment, electrical systems, mechanical building equipment, building security and daily duties both scheduled and unscheduled which may include daily check lists, preventive maintenance schedules, and posted work orders.

Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.

  •  2+ years experience in facility maintenance of building trade.
  •  2+ years experience in the use of power tools and safety equipment.
  •  Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical repair, pool and other maintenance related areas.
  •  Knowledge and experience implementing ADA, OSHA and general safety compliance standards.
  •  Must be able to respond to emergency/on-call situations.
  •  Must have or be willing to obtain CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification within 6 months of employment.
  •  Must be capable of working in a disruptive environment, while remaining professional and exhibit and upbeat attitude.
  •  Communicate via computer, multi-line phone, and smart-phone.
  • Ability to regularly and frequently drive to satellite branches locations with little or no notice.
  •  Must be able to multi task and work under time constraints.
  •  Must have attention to detail.
  •  Frequently operate, snow blower, pressure washer, hand, and power tools.
  •  Frequently performs tasks in outdoor weather conditions.
  •  Assist as needed with YMCA operations, buildings coverage and special events.

  • Constantly perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may include, but are not limited to the following activities: partial–reach to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • Move around the work environment independently;
  • Push, pull, or lift up to 100 pounds for short periods of time.
