Essential Functions

This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

  • Serve as the primary person responsible for child safety on an assigned vehicle.
  • Complete and confirm daily attendance counts and rosters.
  • Assist children with street crossing, getting on/off the bus, door-to-door transfers.
  • Ensure the safety of children on the vehicle by following all Y rules and best practices for managing youth.
  • Provide pro-active supervision of children on the bus at all times.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter for our transportation operations.
  • Attend all safety, staffing, and training in-services/meetings.
  • Follow and administer the Y Child Safety Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.

  • High School diploma, GED, or other equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in working with school-age children
  • Become certified in AED, CPR, and First Aid within 60 days of employment and maintain certifications for each
  • Ability to mitigate conflict while still performing all essential duties
  • Have a track record of safe practices and working with children
