Essential Functions

This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

 

WELLNESS COACH

  • Integrate the mission of the YMCA and follow the core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into the healthy living aspect of all trainings.
  • Conducts new member wellness orientations following the guidelines established by the Branch.
  • Closely supervises member's fitness and wellness programs and attends to his/her needs in a polite, friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Circulates through the wellness center to maintain a friendly,open and helpful relationship with all staff and members,as well as identifying issues, concerns and potential problems in operations.
  • Promotes member programs and services to all members and encourages cross training and fun activity to attain his/her health and wellness goals.
  • Take professional initiative to promote personal training, programs and all wellness related opportunities during member interactions.
  • Support member retention through all programs and services

PERSONAL TRAINER 

  • Design safe and effective 30-60 minute personal training programs for individual/group clients specific to their goals and ability levels.
  • Instruct clients in the strength training principles, training procedures, and exercise techniques adapting to the design model of YMCA.
  • Educate clients on the proper and preferred use of all fitness equipment in the wellness center safely and effectively.
  • Provide individual supervision, reinforcement and support during clients training session.
  • promote personal training through personal example and member interaction.
  • Help maintain a neat, clean and pleasant environment on the wellness floor.
  • Stay current on fitness concepts and ideas.

Qualifications

The requirements and preferences (where indicated) for this role are listed below. Please review them carefully to ensure that you apply for the role that best matches your qualifications. 

  • Previous experience (minimum one year) in the health and wellness field.
  • Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
  • Current Personal Trainer certification. (NASM, ACE,AFAA or ACSM)
  • Exellent human relation and communication skills.
