Essential Functions

This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

  • Ensure the safety of youth entrusted to our Child Development and Club House programs.
  • Interact with youth in a manner that ensures a positive experience and social development.
  • Plan activities with youth based upon their feedback daily. This may include: arts & crafts, reading, puzzles, game learning, and fine motor skill activities.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the Y Child Safety Code of Conduct.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter and first responder for all youth entrusted to our care.
  • Demonstrate the Y Core Values at all times...Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Manage interpsonal conflict and guide peer interactions for all youth in the assigned programs.


The requirements and preferences (where indicated) for this role are listed below. Please review them carefully to ensure that you apply for the role that best matches your qualifications. Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.

  • Have, or being working toward, a high school degree
    • GED completion certificate is also acceptable
  • Have, or be willing to earn, and maintain CPR, AED, First Aid certification within 60 days of hire
  • 1 or more years of experience in babysitting (Preference)
  • 2 or more years of experience in working with children aged 3 months - 5 years (e.g. babysitting, siblings, youth sports) (Preference)
